UNHOMED

UNHOMED focuses on feelings and memories of my internship journey, a short but intense period of time from an emotional point of view. Following it, some reflections arose in me about the difficulties related to the transfer and adaptation from one place to another, in this case from Venice to Amsterdam. From not feeling at home to the cold sensation of feeling strangers and alienated in a certain place.

Emphasizing these sentiments, I will analyze the theme of changing one’s home and migrating through different spheres such as contemporary art, fashion and philosophy and how these disciplines have linked the theme to a disturbing, dark and distorted aesthetic that inspired the work of creation of a collection moodboard.

The reworking of some of their works in digital collages, combined with personal visual elements, made it possible to create silhouettes and print ideas that had the estranging character I was looking for.

Therefore, taking as a starting point some photographs taken in Holland with deserted streets due to the pandemic, I wanted to explore the theme of alienation in contemporary society by expressing my emotions within a capsule collection.

Finally, my sensitivity to environmental issues, further developed during the internship trip, led me to deepen the theme of alienation also in relation to nature, seen as an element that is rebelling against man’s domination over it. From this point comes the decision to create the capsule collection digitally through the use of 3D design software, an innovative and more than ever contemporary method adopted by the fashion industry to at least partially reduce the damage it causes to the environment.
